Movement, Perception and Communication as a Unit
BWKE is a movement-education concept for all kinds of movement in nursing, therapy and rehabilitation. The main aim of this hands-on course is to find ways – for and with people who have movement and perception impairments – to achieve gentle, resource-oriented mobilisation.
Course description
Kinaesthetics – or rather: acting kinaesthetically in care – is a movement science for all kinds of movement in nursing and means perception-oriented practice. The main aim of this very hands-on course is to find ways – for and with people who have movement and perception impairments – to achieve gentle mobilisation, with particular emphasis on using patients' own resources and on low-pain, strength-saving mobilisation. Integrating movement sequences into the Activities of Daily Living (ADL) is explained throughout; for specific clinical conditions and situations, solutions are shown. Great importance is placed on preventing overload-related musculoskeletal disorders – a path to healthy “ageing in the profession”.

Goals of acting kinaesthetically in care:
Being able to perform movement sequences independently again
Where necessary, performing movements with competent helpers
Recognising and developing the capacity for movement even with lasting impairments
Moving instead of lifting and carrying
Practical goal for the 3-day course: develop ready-to-apply knowledge and skills for movement support in bed, to the bedside and back, and from the bed to standing and/or into a chair (and back).
Necessity

Course formats
The same course can be offered in several formats and thematic variants:
Lecture
Workshop (half-day or full-day)
Demonstration, including in public spaces (marketplace, church, events, etc.)
Basic course – 3 days, can be split into individual days
Advanced course – 3 days, with in-depth focus in various directions
Specialised courses – e.g. for different specialist trainings (ICU & anaesthesia, stroke nurses, etc.)
Practical supervision at the request of the delegating facility
Please bring: comfortable or work clothing, work shoes, writing materials. Dates by arrangement.
Aim of the course
Develop ready-to-apply knowledge and skills for movement support in bed, at the bedside, when transferring to a chair and when walking – following the BWKE principle.
